‘Punjab has favourable environment for foreign investors’

LAHORE: Austrian Ambassador Mrs Andrea Wicke called on Provincial Minister of Industry and Commerce Chaudhry Shafay Hussain at the office of Punjab Investment Board on Monday. Punjab Investment Board CEO Jalal Hassan was also present in the meeting.

Provincial minister informed the Austrian ambassador about investment opportunities and government priorities in industrial estates of Punjab. He said that foreign investors have a favourable environment for investment in Punjab. Turkish, Chinese and other foreign companies have invested in the industrial estates of Punjab and Austrian investment companies should take advantage of investment opportunities in Punjab, he added.

Ch Shafay said that the Austrian government should review the export of food items, garments, leather and other products from Pakistan. He said that practical measures are needed to promote trade between Pakistan and Austria. He said that priority of the government is to prepare skilled manpower as per requirements of global market and the work has started on the project to upgrade technical education institutions and their labs according to international standards.

He said in the first phase, four colleges of Tevta are being upgraded to international standards and short courses in information technology are being provided free of cost to the youth.
