This letter refers to the news report ‘Shehbaz to personally monitor Saudi investment’ (April 19, 2024). It was reported that PM Shehbaz Sharif has said that he would be personally monitoring the Saudi investment projects in Pakistan and warned against any laxity due to red tape or outdated procedures in this regard. This is a very welcome step from the prime minister. Saudi investments will be crucial for Pakistan and it is important that we protect, preserve, and enhance the value of these investments.
If anyone is found guilty of misappropriating any amount or breaking the law as far as these investments are concerned, then severe and immediate punishments should be instituted upon the offending individuals via the NAB and FIA. I really appreciate that the PM is working hard to rebuild and restore our economic ties with other nations. We must give our all to improving our economic fundamentals.
