Man crushed to death by train

LAHORE : A man was killed by a moving train at Lahore Railway Station’s platform - 7 here on Wednesday.

It was yet to be ascertained whether the man yet to be identified had committed suicide or he accidentally came under the wheels of the train. The body was shifted to the morgue.

Two die in road accidents

Two youths died in road accidents here in the provincial metropolis on Wednesday.

A 24-year-old youth identified as Hamza, son of Imtiaz, died in a traffic accident in Baghbanpura area while a 25-year-old bike rider identified as Usman, son of Younas, lost his life in a road accident in the limits of Yakki Gate police. Edhi Ambulance shifted the bodies to the mortuary.

12,000 electricity theft cases registered

Lahore police registered more than 12,000 cases of electricity theft and arrested 11,800 accused during the current year. The spokesman said that 1,720 accused of electricity theft were arrested by Iqbal Town Division, 2,149 by Sadar Division, 3,480 by Cantt Division, 1,782 by Model Town Division, 2,020 by City Division and 705 accused were apprehended by Civil Lines Division.

Labour Day security

DIG Operations Lahore conducted inspections across various locations within the city in observance of International Labour Day.

During these visits, he assessed the security measures put in place for the rallies and events commemorating the occasion. Additionally, he engaged with participants of these gatherings, garnering feedback on the security arrangements. The attendees expressed contentment with the level of security provided, reflecting the successful coordination between law enforcement authorities and the community on International Labour Day.

Road accidents

Two persons were killed and 1,260 injured in 1195 road accidents in all 37 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.

Out of these, 529 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 731 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue medical teams.

Furthermore, the analysis showed that 652 drivers, 43 underage drivers, 178 pedestrians, and 432 passengers were among the victims of road traffic crashes.

The statistics showed that 288 road accidents were reported in Lahore, which affected 325 persons placing the Provincial Capital at top of the list followed by 88 in Faisalabad with 92 victims and at third Gujranwala with 81 road accidents and 73 victims. According to the data 1,073 motorbikes, 80 auto-rickshaws, 109 motorcars, 27 vans, 04 passenger buses, 29 trucks and 91 other types of auto vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in these road traffic accidents.
