MANSEHRA: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has restricted the travelling of Chinese nationals without armoured vehicles.
“We are adopting all possible security measures for your safety and protection, therefore, you would never travel without armoured vehicles,” Deputy Inspector General of Police, Hazara Range, Tahir Ayub Khan told a security meeting of the Suki Kinari hydropower project in Malkandi area of Kaghan Valley here on Wednesday.
Flanked by District Police Officer Shafiullah Gandapur, he visited the Suki Kinari hydropower and Balakot hydropower projects being built at Kunhar River.
The security personnel, Chinese engineers and management of the two projects attended the meetings held in Malkandi and Ghanool areas respectively.
“The height of the boundary walls of residential colonies, where Chinese engineers and workers are staying, should not be less than 8 feet, and might be topped with barbed wires,” Tahir Ayub said.
The DIG said that security personnel deployed for the security of the Chinese engineers had been directed to stay alert and vigilant to avert any untoward incident.
Tahir Ayub has replaced his predecessor Mohammad Ijaz Khan, who was suspended following a suicide attack on the convoy of the Dasu hydropower project at Karakoram Highway in which five Chinese and their Pakistani driver were killed in the Bisham area of Shangla district on March 26, 2024.
