RAHIM YAR KHAN: Two sanitary workers who fell unconscious due to poisonous gas while cleaning a manhole died, while the condition of another one is critical.
Three sanitary workers 32-year-old Municipal Committee Sewerman Muhammad Manoor, along with his son Zahid Manoor, 19-years-old, and a supervising sanitary worker, 24-year-old, Muhammad Irfan entered the manhole in Chak 169P Taba. But soon afterwards they fainted due to the inhalation of toxic gases and the Rescue 1122 was summoned to shift them to the nearby hospital. However, Muhammad Manoor died before he could be taken to the hospital while Muhammad Irfan died at the hospital. The condition of Zahid Manoor is being described as critical.
Reacting to the development, Deputy Commissioner Khuram Shehzad suspended the relevant in charge for negligence and sought an incident report from the assistant commissioner.
