ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) spokesman Saturday said the altercation between ex-caretaker premier Anwaarul Haq Kakar and PMLN’s Hanif Abbasi over the wheat scandal was a confession of those involved in the ‘journey’ from the national treasury to stealing the public mandate.

The PTI spokesman demanded that in the context of the ‘conversation’ between Kakar and Abbasi, a judicial commission should be set up and those responsible for importing excessive quantity of wheat under a systematic plan should be held accountable.

The PTI spokesman said the caretaker prime minister’s threat of Form 47 to those imposed through rigging raised many questions and needed a transparent investigation into the matter.

He charged that those who stole the nation’s mandate overnight and mismanaged the ideal production of wheat were blaming each other instead of admitting to their crimes. Instead of taking effective steps to solve people’s problems, those imposed on the nation under fake Form 47, were resorting to rhetoric and threats, he added.

The PTI spokesman said that due to the excess of constitutional powers of ex-caretaker PM Kakar, despite the presence of sufficient wheat in the country, farmer was bearing the brunt of the import of wheat in excess today.

He said futile investigation conducted by the federal government into the wheat import scheme and the tussle between the partners was a heinous attempt to save the ‘criminals’. He clarified that the confrontation between Kakar and Hanif Abbasi was enough to open the eyes of the nation.
