CHITRAL: The police successfully recovered a foreign tourist, who had gone missing due severe inclement weather, from the forest and safely shifted him to Chitral Town.
Amadeo, a hitchhiker from Switzerland, was recovered after he got lost on a hill track some 6550 feet above the sea level in Orghoch area in Lower Chitral.
The tourist was on his way to Rambur in Kalash valley when distracted from the high hill track due to unfavourable weather. He lost contact with the police as he moved forward in the wrong direction because of harsh weather caused by heavy rain in the area.
The personnel of Rambur Police Station, Foreigners’ Registration Office and District Security Branch swung into action and started a rescue operation to recover the missing tourist after they lost contact with him.
They continued searching for the tourist despite heavy downpour and after passing through the tough and difficult terrain, they finally recovered him from a cattle pen situated in the middle of a forest Orghoch area in Lower Chitral.
