This past Friday (May 3) saw a historic moment in the country’s history. Pakistan finally launched its first satellite moon mission: iCube Qamar, on China’s China’s Long March-5 rocket. The launch took place in Hainan, China. The satellite, designed by the Institute of Space Technology, Islamabad in collaboration with Suparco and Shanghai University.
It is expected to reach the moon in less than two days and will then proceed to orbit the moon for about three to six months. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the nation and the whole team that worked on the iCube Qamar mission in both Pakistan and China.
