RAWALPINDI: Two terrorists were killed in an exchange of fire between the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and terrorists here in the early hours of Sunday.
Officials claim that the suspects were involved in a recent attack on a Dolphin officer at Waris Khan leading to his death.
In another similar incident, a member of muggers and dacoits gang was gunned down during an encounter with the patrolling police in Taxila in the wee hours of Sunday.
CTD officials said upon receiving information from the intelligence agencies that a gang of terrorists involved in attacking a Dolphin Squad patrol was roaming about in Rawat, a team of CTD and police reached the scene and engaged the terrorists on Jawa Road falling in the jurisdiction of Rawat police station.
However, the terrorist opened fire at the police leading to the death of two of them, while the remaining ones managed to escape.
Police sources said the terrorists belonged to the outlawed TTP. They were identified as Naseebullah and Ehsanullah. Both were wanted in the killing of Dolphin official.
The CTD has recovered a huge amount of arms and ammunition with explosives, including hand-grenades, from the terrorists, while the search for their accomplices is on.
In another incident, three dacoits opened fire at a police picket in Taxila when the police flagged them to stop. The police engaged the gangsters, leading to the death of one of them, while two others managed to escape.
