ISLAMABAD: Title favourites Wapda edged out Army 2-1 with PAF getting the better of Navy 3-0 to make it to the final of the first PTF Inter-Department Tennis Trophy here at the PTF Complex
Monday.
Both the winning teams will now play for the Trophy today (Tuesday). Wapda took advantage of the experienced team against Army with Muhammad Abid comfortably breezing past Abdullah Adnan in straight sets 6-3, 6-4.
Seasoned veteran Aqeel Khan outclassed proficient Muzammil Murtaza 6-2, 6-4 to give his team an unassailable lead. Muzammil though caught up with Aqeel at 4-4 in the second set, he was no way near to tennis exhibited by Aqeel.
In the doubles match, Army team comprising Muzammil Murtaza and Abdullah Adnan edged out Shahzad Khan and Heera Ashiq to win 6-4, 7-6(2). PAF won all their matches against Navy with Yausaf Khalil, Mohammad Shoaib and pair of Shoaib and Hamza Roman easily winning their matches.
