LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) has started it’s preparations to make Nawaz Sharif the President of PMLN again. In this regard, a meeting of PMLN stalwarts was held at Model Town on Monday. The meeting was chaired by former PM Nawaz Sharif.
The meeting took important decisions regarding the upcoming party general council meeting scheduled to be held in May 11, 2024. PMLN Secretary General Ahsan Iqbal briefed the party leadership regarding the preparations for the general council meeting. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, Azam Nazir Tarar, Ahsan Iqbal, Rana Sanaullah, Khawaja Saad Rafique also participated in the meeting. Party sources said Nawaz Sharif will be re-elected as the party president and Khawaja Saad Rafique as the secretary general in the upcoming general council of the PMLN. The resolution to make Nawaz Sharif the president will be presented in the general council meeting.
The organization of PMLN Punjab has already unanimously passed the resolution to make Nawaz Sharif the party president. Party sources said it has been decided to separate government and organizational positions to make the party active and organized at the public level by reorganizing. After the major changes, PMLN will be mobilized and made active again in the four provinces under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif. Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari said the meeting was called to discuss the agenda if upcoming general council and no other issues were discussed in the meeting.
