PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Tuesday directed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa advocate general to contact the Punjab inspector general of police and advocate general to inform them about the bid by the Punjab Police to arrest Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and member of the Punjab Assembly Mian Mohammad Aslam despite court orders to the contrary.
Issuing a written order on the contempt of court petition of the PTI leader, the PHC directed the KP advocate general to inform the aforementioned officials about the February 23 decision of the high court.
The PTI leader Mian Mohammad Aslam had filed a contempt of court petition in the high court after the Punjab police tried to arrest him despite court orders to the contrary. The court directed the KP advocate general to submit his reply at the next hearing.
The court directed the KP advocate general to get in touch with the inspector general and the advocate general Punjab and inform them about the decision of the PHC.
The PHC directed the KP advocate general to ask the officials in question to ensure the implementation of the court orders besides furnishing the details of the cases against the PTI leader.
The PHC had granted transit bail to Mian Mohammad Aslam and had directed him to appear before the relevant forums. The court had directed the police not to arrest him.
