MINGORA: Awami National Party (ANP), Swat district chapter, has condemned the imposition of taxes by the present government and declared to stand shoulder to shoulder with the people of Malakand division.
The party held a meeting at the Swat Press Club, attended by the ANP district council members as well as provincial leaders.Addressing the gathering, members including Rauf Khan from the provincial election commission, district chairman Salim Khan, former president Ayub Khan Asharay, the unopposed elected president Sher Shah Khan, unopposed general secretary Abdul Malik, and others said that the ANP, being the party of the Pakhtuns, had always fought for the rights of the community and would continue to do so.
They stated that whether it was an earthquake, flood, or terrorism, the ANP had always been in the forefront and would not hesitate to sacrifice for the future as well.They said the government should not impose taxes in the Malakand region as people have very few business and other opportunities there. They demanded the party workers to actively engage with annoyed activists and devise a strategy to move the party forward on the path of progress so that public trust is restored in the ANP.
