LAHORE:Punjab government Tuesday organised an investment conference to facilitate the investment in the infrastructure development of the province through public-private partnership model.
Addressing the conference, Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb said that the economy size of the Punjab is 2.25 billion US dollars while the GDP of the province is larger than the 32 countries of world which makes the province important for the investment prospective.
She said public-private partnerships model will be established in energy, industrial and social sectors for social development of the province. She observed that Lahore-Islamabad Motorway was a successful public-private partnership project of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz.
The Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz started inherited the vision of public-private partnership and started working on it. She claimed that time had proved public-private partnership model successful despite criticism and baseless accusations on the model.
The Punjab government has been further refining the public-private partnership model keeping the experiences and methods of successful countries. This will be approved by the Punjab government soon, the minister said.
The stakeholders are taken on board for devising the public-private partnership model. The suggestions from the private sector and experts were sought and would be included in the framework, focusing on the roads sector.
