LAHORE:Two suspect robbers were arrested after an encounter near Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park by Dolphin Squad team.
Reportedly, the suspects had conducted a robbery bid last night in Sanda and were about to conduct another one. A Dolphin Squad on finding them suspicious signalled to stop, however, the suspects instead of complying by the orders tried to run away and opened firing.
Police chased and arrested them. A snatched motorcycle, mobile phone and illegal weapons were recovered from their custody. Many cases of robbery, dacoity and other heinous offences have been traced to them. They were handed over to Iqbal Town police station for further investigations.
CCPO rejecting cops’ 415 appeals
CCPO Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana heard police employees' 1,956 appeals this year, issuing warnings to 1,541 employees for minor violations while rejecting 415 appeals. He emphasised that the purpose of appeals' review through orderly room is to promptly address issues faced by policemen.
Two bike lifters arrested
Lohari Gate police arrested two members of a bike lifting gang identified as Liaqat and Usman Butt. Three master keys and illegal weapons were recovered from them. The suspects would distribute bikes among themselves after conducting bike lifting/snatching bids. Many cases have been traced to them.
369 hideouts of drug dealers raided
Punjab police teams raided 369 hideouts of drug dealers across the province during the last 24 hours. At least 178 cases were registered against the drug pushers and 182 accused were arrested. Spokesperson Punjab Police further said that 22,364 raids were conducted on the hideouts of drug dealers during the ongoing Drug-Free Punjab campaign from February 26.
10,949 accused involved in nefarious business were arrested while 10,420 cases were registered. 6,969 kg of hashish, 118 kg of heroin, more than 221 kg of opium, more than 34 and a half kg of ice and 134,480 liters of alcohol were recovered from the possession of the accused.
43 cops honoured
