GUJRANWALA: The FIA Special Court has awarded 60-year imprisonment to the main accused in the Libya boat tragedy case.
M Mumtaz was sentenced under the Immigration Ordinance 1979 for the boat incident in which 281 Pakistanis drowned in sea in 2023.
Among the victims, more than 50 people were from Gujranwala.
Allegedly, Mumtaz had received Rs 1.1 million from four youths for sending them to Italy, who also died in the incident. After the completion of hearing, Judge Naeem Sheikh announced the sentence.
