Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said his government will include development projects to supply clean drinking water, drainage of wastewater, and solar power for underprivileged people in the upcoming provincial budget for the new fiscal year 2024-25.
He stated this on Friday while meeting the Sindh chapter president of Pakistan Peoples Party Nisar Ahmed Khuhro at the Chief Minister House. The meeting took into consideration the recent interactions between the CM, his cabinet members and office-bearers and activists of the PPP in different divisions of the province to get the latter’s input for proposing new development projects for the upcoming provincial budget for the uplift of different parts of Sindh.
The Sindh PPP president told the CM that he had started receiving formal written recommendations from activists of the party in different divisions for launching new development projects in their areas in the upcoming fiscal year.
The CM said that his government would initiate projects to maximize the utilisation of solar energy for producing cheap electricity for power consumers from low-income families, keeping in view the constant rise in the cost of grid electricity. He said solar power would play an important part in the provincial government’s drive to reduce the cost of electricity for power consumers in the province.
The CM said he had initiated a series of meetings with the activists of the PPP to consult them on the new development initiatives on the directives of the party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. He said the activists were the main strength of the Sindh government.
Khuhro told the CM that the morale and confidence level of the PPP’s workers had increased after participating in the recent consultative sessions. Meanwhile, Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori has summoned the session of the Sindh Assembly for Monday, May 20, 2024, at 2pm at the assembly building.
The governor summoned the session of the assembly on the recommendation of the government. The new session is being held to invite proposals from the MPAs for the upcoming budget. The lawmakers both on the treasury and opposition benches in the house will take part in the pre-budget discussion.
