The IMF’s strict conditions for provision of another instalment of loans to Pakistan will further deteriorate the standards of living of the middle and lower classes. Our politicians, who predominantly belong to the elite class, seemingly cannot empathize with the struggles of the ordinary people. IMF loans and other foreign borrowing is the result of the total failure of all our governments over the past several decades. These regimes did nothing worth mentioning and put the country on the backburner. They prioritized personal interests over national interests. The incumbent government needs to optimize its expenses to the maximum extent and provide relief to the people by improving administrative performance and delivering economic uplift.
