LAHORE:Hundreds of employees of Lahore Development Authority (LDA) have planned to stage a sit-in against LDA management for not paying their three-month salary.
The sit-in may be held on the day when Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz will visit the LDA office in Johar Town, said a number of employees who were present outside LDA’s union office while talking with the scribe on Monday.
The workers claimed that the LDA’s management especially Engineering Wing didn’t pay their three-month salary. There were around 600 employees who were attached with different ongoing projects being executed by LDA’s Engineering Wing. A number of such workers were also working in LDA’s Sports Complexes which also fall under the Engineering Wing, they added. Imtiaz, one of the work-charge employees said for the last three months they were not paid their monthly salaries. The workers were told that salaries will be released after the Punjab government gave funds to LDA, he added. When contacted, LDA DG Tahir Farooq said that only around 120 work-charge employees were present in the LDA while the services of rest were finished with the completion of the projects. He further said that he didn’t think there was any salary issue, however, he said he will confirm this.
