In 24 hours: 23 terrorists killed, 7 troops embrace martyrdom in KP

RAWALPINDI: Security forces have killed 23 terrorists while five brave soldiers also embraced Shahadat in three separate operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) in the last 24 hours.

“On May 26 and 27, as many as 23 terrorists were killed by the security forces in three separate operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province,” the ISPR said. On Sunday, security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in Hassan Khel area of Peshawar, neutralizing six terrorists and busting multiple hideouts. Captain Hussain Jehangir and Havildar Shafiq Ullah embraced Shahadat on the same day while fighting gallantly.

On May 27 (Monday), in another operation in Tank District, troops hit the terrorists’ location, and as a result, ten terrorists were killed. The third engagement occurred in the general area of Bagh, Khyber District, wherein, the security forces killed seven terrorists, while two terrorists were injured.

However, during the intense exchange of fire, five brave soldiers, Naik Muhammad Ashfaq Butt (32 years; resident of Kahuta), Lance Naik Syed Danish Afkar (30 years; resident of Poonch), Sepoy Taimoor Malik (32 years; resident of district Layyah), Sepoy Nadir Sageer (22 years; resident of Bagh) and Sepoy Muhammad Yasin (23 years; resident of Khushab), having fought gallantly, embraced Shahadat.

General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), and a large number of military and civil officials attended the funeral of Shaheed soldiers at Peshawar Garrison. Later, COAS visited CMH Peshawar to inquire after troops injured during the operation.

The COAS appreciated their morale and reaffirmed the resolve of the nation to fight terrorism with vigour and spirit. Shuhada would be laid to rest with military honour in their native towns.
