LAHORE: Pakistan’s defeat to India in the T20 World Cup has sparked outrage among former cricketers.

Former captain and the legendary pacer Wasim Akram slammed the team’s performance, particularly Iftikhar Ahmed and Mohammad Rizwan’s batting. He criticised their lack of game awareness and shot selection.

Pakistan’s ex captain Waqar Younis has similar sentiments. Fuming over the “horrible” batting display, Waqar highlighted the missed opportunity after India’s low score. He pointed out Rizwan’s poor shot selection against Jasprit Bumrah as a turning point.

Shoaib Akhtar asked whether Pakistan deserve to be in the Super 8 stage after their batting capitulation. He expressed disappointment at the lack of intent.

Former chief selector Muhammad Wasim raised questions about transparency and fitness management. He claimed all-rounder Imad Wasim allegedly hid the severity of his knee injury, calling it a “rib issue.” Wasim linked compromised fitness to the team’s poor results.
