ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari Monday directed the authorities concerned to pay Rs4.7 million each as compensation to 1500 people affected by the Diamer Bhasha Dam project.
The president gave this direction in his separate meetings with Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan Engineer Amir Muqam and Energy Minister Dr Musaddik Malik here.
Zardari also directed that immediate steps be taken to establish a medical college and hospital in Gilgit Baltistan.
He said ‘Sehat Sahulat Porgram’ be made part of Benazir Income Support Program for provision of healthcare facilities to the people of Gilgit-Baltistan.
The president had met with Gilgit Baltistan governor and members of Gilgit Baltistan Council a few days go in which he assured them of resolution of problems.
