PDMA signs MoU on climate change in Punjab

LAHORE : An MoU was signed between PDMA and German organisation Welt-hunger-hilfe.

The signing ceremony was held at PDMA Head Office here. Mutual issues were discussed between the representatives of private organisation and PDMA. The representatives of the private organisation appreciated the functioning of PDMA. According to the PDMA spokesperson, the MoU aims to support disaster risk reduction and climate change in Punjab. It was agreed to increase cooperation in the areas of basic and nutritional needs of the community affected by natural disasters. On behalf of the MoU delegation, it was said that Welt Hunger hilfe will cooperate with PDMA Punjab in improving disaster risk reduction and ecosystem restoration. PDMA DG Irfan Ali Kathia said that PDMA Punjab would provide all possible facilities to the social organisation. Welt Hunger Hilfe PDMA will support Punjab in risk assessment at the local level. The PDMA will provide support to the social organisation in planning coordination and operational matters. The purpose of signing the MoU is to promote mutual cooperation and combat natural disasters together.

The delegation further said that PDMA is providing relief to people in natural calamities, hunger is also a natural calamity. Irfan Ali Kathia thanked WHH Organisation for their support and said that Pakistan is among the countries affected by climate change.
