LAHORE: Punjab police has completed its arrangements for the security of Eid prayer gatherings in mosques, Imambargahs and open places across the province.
More than 40,000 officers will perform security duties at over 26,500 mosques and imambargahs and 900 open places across the province, including Lahore.
More than 8,000 personnel and officers will be deployed for the security of more than 5,000 Eid prayer gatherings in the City; 498 special police, and 260 QRF teams will also be deployed across the province for security, while 13,249 metal dictators, 217 walk-through gates and 4,475 CCTV cameras will also be used for Eid prayer security arrangements.
More than 3,000 officials are performing the security duties of 227 cattle markets across the province, including Lahore. Snipers on the roofs of A-category mosques and imambargahs and commandos in plain clothes will be deployed at Eid gatherings. Additional personnel will be deployed for the security of parks and recreational areas during the Eid holidays. IG Punjab said to ensure strict implementation of the SOPs of the Home Department regarding the collection of sacrificial hides. Monitoring of all proscribed organisations involved in illegal activities and persons included in the Fourth Schedule will be made more effective. He directed that all resources should be used for the convenience and protection of tourists at Murree and other tourist places during Eid holidays. He further said that the SOPs issued regarding entry and exit of vehicles in Murree should be implemented.
Cops deployed at cattle markets: Lahore police Wednesday deployed 4 SPs, 8 DSPs, 7 SHOs, and 22 upper subordinates along with 430 police personnel to maintain security at eight cattle markets of the City.
In a statement, the police spokesman said the cops would maintain law and order situation at cattle markets established at Shahpur Kanjran, Raiwind Road, NFC Society Multan Road, New King Lane Housing Society, Sports Complex Adda Rakh Chabeel, Burki Road, LDA City, and Saggian Road.
