LAHORE: Heatwave continued to prevail in the City as mercury remained at 44.3°C while Met officials predicted similar weather conditions for the next 24 hours.
Met officials warned that very hot weather was likely to prevail over most plain areas of the country today (Thursday). Day temperatures were likely to remain 02°C to 04°C above normal, they said, adding the general public was advised to take precautionary measures.
Met officials said continental air was prevailing over most parts of the country while a shallow westerly wave was likely to enter upper parts of the country from today. They predicted that mainly hot and dry weather was expected in most parts of the country, while very hot in central/southern parts. Partly cloudy weather with windstorm/thunderstorm-rain was expected at isolated places in Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad and upper Punjab. Wednesday’s maximum temperature was recorded at Jacobabad, Sibbi, Bhakkar, Noorpur Thal and Dera Gazi Khan where mercury reached 48°C, while in Lahore, it was 44.3°C and minimum was 28°C.
