ET dismisses Ghani’s plea seeking rejection of Marwat’s petition

The election tribunal, headed by Justice Adnan Iqbal Chaudhry, dismissed the application filed by Pakistan Peoples Party MPA Saeed Ghani, who had sought summary rejection of an election petition against him.

Grand Democratic Alliance candidate Irfanullah Khan Marwat has challenged the election results of provincial assembly constituency PS-105 in which PPP candidate Saeed Ghani was declared as returned candidate.

Ghani filed application for summary rejection of the election petition under Section145 (1) of the Election Act submitting that failure to fulfil the requirement of election laws attracts penal consequences of rejection provided under Section 145 (1) of the Act.

Irfanullah Khan Marwat’s counsel submitted that required compliance has been made; therefore, the tribunal has issued notices to the ECP and other respondents in the petition. The ET headed by Justice Adnan Iqbal Chaudhry, after hearing the arguments of the counsel, observed that none of the objections taken for the rejection of the petition have any force, and dismissed the application.
