Heads of nine Senate bodies elected

ISLAMABAD: The elections for the chairmen of the standing committees of the Senate continued on Friday, resulting in the election of the heads of nine standing committees.

Senator Palwasha Mohammad Zai Khan was elected Chairperson of the Senate Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunication. Her nomination was proposed by Senator Nadeem Ahmed Bhutto and seconded by Syed Kazim Ali Shah.

Senator Nasir Mehmood was elected Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Housing and Works. His nomination was proposed by Senator Aslam Abro and seconded by Husna Bano. Senator Anusha Rehman was elected Chairperson of the Senate Standing Committee on Commerce. Her nomination was proposed by Senator Salim Mandviwalla and seconded by Senator Sarmad Ali. Senator Jam Saifullah Khan was elected Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Railways. His nomination was proposed by Senator Nasir Mehmood and seconded by Senator Ashraf Ali Jatoi.

Senator Umar Farooq was elected Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Petroleum. His nomination was proposed by Senator Mir Dostain Khan Domki and seconded by Senator Quratul Ain Marri. Senator Amir Waliuddin Chishti was elected Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on National Health Services, Regulation, and Coordination. His nomination was proposed by Senator Palwasha Mohammad Zai Khan and seconded by Senator Syed Masroor Ahsan. Senator Agha Shahzeb Durrani was elected as Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Problems in Less Developed Areas. His nomination was proposed by Senator Danesh Kumar and seconded by Senator Syed Kazim Ali Shah.

Senator Abdul Qudoos was elected Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Aviation. His nomination was proposed by Senator Sherry Rehman and seconded by Senator Salim Mandviwalla. Sardar Alhaj Muhammad Umer Gorgaij was elected Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Poverty Alleviation and Social Security. His nomination was proposed by Senator Dost Ali Jeesar and seconded by Senator Jan Muhammad.
