Tomato rates surge over 50pc

LAHORE:The fruits and vegetables sellers got a free hand ahead of Eidul Azha as the prices of essential items not only increased but overcharging also gained manifolds in the absence of any checks and balances from any authority.

The government in order to manage and manipulate the situation for political point scoring has reduced onion rates in the rate lists only while the tomato rates were increased by more than 50 percent but not sold at official rates. Similarly, green chili, lemon was sold doubled the official rates while vendors also overcharged 40 to 50 percent higher on ginger and garlic.

This week price of chicken increased by Rs39 per kg, fixed at Rs328-341 per kg, sold at Rs370-400 per kg, and chicken meat by Rs56 per kg, fixed at Rs494 kg, and sold at Rs520-1,000 per kg.

The price of potato soft skin gained by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs75-80 per kg, sold at Rs130-140 per kg, B-grade fixed at Rs65-70 per kg, and C-grade at Rs55-60 per kilogram, mixed sold at Rs100-120 per kg.

The price of onion A-grade reduced by Rs20 per kg, fixed at Rs100–105 per kg, sold at Rs150 per kg, B-grade by Rs15 per kg, fixed at Rs90-95 per kg, and C-grade by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs80-85 per kg, mixed sold at Rs120-130 per kg.

The price of tomato A-grade further gained by Rs30 per kg, fixed at Rs80-85 per kg, sold at Rs250 per kg, B-grade fixed at Rs70-75 per kg, and C-grade at Rs60-65 per kg, mixed sold at Rs200 per kg.

The price of garlic local increased by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs270-280 per kg, sold at Rs350-400 per kg, and Garlic China price was not fixed, sold at Rs800-1000 per kg, Garlic Harnai fixed at Rs315-330 per kg, sold at Rs600 per kg.

The price of Ginger Thai unchanged at Rs620-640 per kg, and Ginger Chinese reduced, fixed at Rs620-640 per kg, both sold at Rs800-1,000 per kg.

Cucumber Farm further gained by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs57-60 per kg, sold at Rs80-120 per kg, and cucumber local fixed at Rs62-65 per kg, sold at Rs150 kg.

Brinjal price was reduced by Rs30 per kg, fixed Rs47-50 per kg, sold at Rs80-120 per kg. Bitter gourd reduced by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs67-70 per kg, sold at Rs120-140 per kg.

The lemon local further reduced by Rs70 per kg, fixed at Rs315-330 per kg, sold at Rs600-800 per kg.

Pumpkin price reduced by Rs35 per kg, fixed at Rs52-55 per kg, sold at Rs80-100 per kg.

Green chili price A-grade reduced by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs105-110 per kg, sold at Rs200 per kg, B-grade gained by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs80-85 per kg, sold at Rs120-160 per kg.

Ladyfinger reduced by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs115-120 per kg, sold at Rs160-180 per kg. Turnip was reduced by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs67-70 per kg, sold at Rs200 per kg.

Coriander was sold at Rs50 per bundle.

The price of different variety of apples gained by Rs15, sold at Rs250-600 per kg.

The price of Banana A-category reduced by Rs30 per doze, fixed at Rs125-130 per dozen, sold at Rs200 per dozen, and B-category fixed at Rs90-95 per dozen, sold at Rs150-160 per dozen, and C-category fixed at Rs57-60 per dozen, sold at Rs120 per dozen.

Melon was reduced by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs45-70 per kg, sold at Rs80-120 per kg, melon round fixed at Rs42-45 per kg, sold at Rs80-100 per kg.

Peach price increased by Rs15 per kg, fixed at Rs125-190 per kg, sold at Rs180-250 per kg. Phalsa price increased by Rs60 per kg, fixed at Rs220-230 per kg, sold at Rs300 per kg.

Mangoes of different variety fixed at Rs105-175 per kg, sold at Rs150-300 per kg.

Plump A-grade was reduced by Rs50 per kg, fixed at Rs170-175 per kg, sold at Rs300 per kg, and B-grade was fixed at Rs105-110 per kg, sold at Rs200-250 per kg.

Cherry box was fixed at Rs275-285 per box, sold at Rs400-500 per box.
