The bodies of a woman and man were retrieved from a pond near the Bagh Ibne Qasim in Clifton on the second day of Eidul Azha on Tuesday.
The bodies were found within the jurisdiction of the Boat Basin police station. The park’s staff detected the bodies and informed the police about them. The Boat Basin Police reached the scene and summoned the Crime Scene Unit.
The police retrieved the bodies from the pond and transported them to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre from where the bodies were moved to a mortuary for identification. Police said the bodies appeared to be around two days old. They added that the pond contained toxic water, and the woman and man had drowned. Further investigations are under way.
