LAHORE: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif Sunday chaired a meeting on law and order and national security here.
The prime minister was briefed on the current law and order situation in Islamabad, Islamabad Model Jail, Islamabad Safe City Project, Federal Anti-Terrorism Department, Special Protection Unit and K-9 unit set up for identification and tracking of narcotics and explosives.
Protection of Pakistani citizens and foreigners is among the top priorities of the state, said the prime minister adding that any negligence in maintaining law and order and protecting citizens would not be tolerated.
The premier also directed an inquiry into the delay in the completion of Islamabad Model Jail. He directed immediate completion of the jail project keeping in view the requirements of modern age.
He also issued orders for the construction of a vocational training institute and a hospital at the model jail.
Chinese experts should be consulted for the Special Protection Unit, directed the prime minister. He also ordered the creation of a forensic lab at the Islamabad Safe City project.
He also directed recruitment of manpower for all the security related projects on the basis of merit as per international standards.
