Foreign currency stolen from FIA safe-house, recovered

Rawalpindi:A combined team engaged in the investigation of theft and embezzlement of foreign currency from the safe-house of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), and skimmed from the Mandra Police Station in Rawalpindi, the previous day, has led to the recovery of a large amount of money from the accused officers, sources said, adding, that a constable was found to have Rs1.25 crore in his possession, while a friend of the station house officer (SHO) was also found to have a significant amount of stolen money.

The sources said that the police had planned to hold a press conference on Monday to reveal the details of the case, but it has been postponed until tomorrow due to the sensitivity of the matter. The police team that went to recover the money was also threatened by the accused police officers, who warned them of severe consequences, the sources maintained. The police have conducted raids in various areas, including Daryaal, Mandra, and Gujar Khan, and have recovered a significant amount of foreign currency. The case is still under investigation, and it is expected that more revelations will be made in the coming days, the sources concluded.
