ISLAMABAD: Three more chairmen were elected to different Senate standing committees during their elections on Monday.
Those elected included Senators Taj Haider, Jan Muhammad, and Syed Masroor Ahsan. They were elected as chairmen of the Senate Committees on Rules of Procedure and Privileges, States and Frontier Regions, and National Food Security and Research, respectively, under Rule 184(1) of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Senate 2012. PPP’s Senator Taj Haider was elected as a Chairman of the Senate Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges after his name was proposed by Senator Prof. Sajid Mir and seconded by Senator Dost Ali Jeesar. Haider expressed gratitude to the committee members for their confidence in his leadership, pledging to steer the committee forward with unwavering dedication and collaboration. Similarly, Senator Syed Masroor Ahsan of the PPP was elected as Chairman of the Senate Committee on National Food Security and Research. His name was proposed by Senator Rahat Jamali and seconded by Senator Dost Muhammad Khan. Earlier, Senator Jan Muhammad of the National Party was elected Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on States and Frontier Regions. He was nominated by Syed Masroor Ahsan and seconded by Senator Dost Muhammad Khan. The chairpersons extended their appreciation to all members of their committees and affirmed their commitment to ensuring effective functioning with their support.
