Islamabad:A 7-year-old girl was killed when her throat was slit by kite string in the jurisdiction of Khanna police station late Monday night but a top officer of the Islamabad police allegedly tried his level best to term the killing by a road accident whole night to hide the reality.
The Federal Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, intervened upon receiving information about the killing and ordered the lodging of a first information report (FIR) as well as a crackdown against those responsible for the brutal killing. The interior minister expressed profound grief and sorrow over the death of a 7-year-old girl from a kite string in an area under the jurisdiction of Islamabad's Khanna Police Station. He extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, stating that they equally share their grief.
In response to the unfortunate incident, the interior minister sought a report from the IG Islamabad and directed strict action against the culprits. He instructed the Islamabad Police to ensure strict implementation of the ban on kite flying, emphasising that indiscriminate action must be taken against the violators.
Subsequently, on the directions of the interior minister, Islamabad Police conducted a crackdown on kite flyers in the areas adjacent to Rawalpindi, resulting in 23 people being arrested during 39 raids. The relatives of the arrested individuals claimed that the police had arrested the youth just to cover the situation, and requested the interior minister to order an independent investigation into the alleged fake crackdown on the people of the area.
