ISLAMABAD: Former First Lady Bushra Bibi's ex-spouse Khawar Maneka claimed that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi are guilty in the marriage/iddat case.
Speaking to a news conference here with a team of lawyers at the National Press Club on Tuesday, Khawar Maneka said that certain groups have been harassing his family for the last four years. He alleged that the accused and 'criminal' founder of PTI and his former wife Bushra are part of the campaign. “So listen to me as I patiently listened to everyone. They should have waited to marry after the Iddat period was over. Their action is wrong in the light of Shariah,” he maintained.
Addressing his former wife, Maneka told her to explain to the nation why she (Bushra) was in such a hurry to get married. Both the founding chairman of PTI and Bushra are guilty of the Nikah case. Raising concerns over the legal push to allow marriage within 39-day Iddat, after divorce, Maneka said that goes against the teachings of Allah and the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him). He expressed his concern over this deviation from the Sharia and called upon the nation to be aware of these developments.
Maneka said that the PTI filed a complaint in Pemra but the complainant was not asked why he hid the marriage and married for the second time on February 18. He said the PTI Central Secretariat on January 7 denied the marriage taking place on January 1 and dubbed it fake news. He speculated that there may be a medical certificate or medical issue that necessitated the hasty marriage on January 1 and then again on February 18.
He said the children bitterly wept when he divorced Bushra on Dec 14 and added that when his mother found out on Dec 24 about it she suffered an attack and was hospitalised where she passed away after a month.
