The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday told the counsel for the petitioners who have disputed the proposed allotment of 6,000 acres to the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) in the Hawkesbay area to argue for the plea’s maintainability and file his clients’ entitlement of land documents.
Ghulam Qadir and others have filed a petition with the high court through their attorney Syed Munir Hyder Shah. The petitioners informed the high court that they are residents of Deh Allah Bano, Mundhyari and Chittara in District Keamari.
Their counsel submitted that the provincial government is on the verge of allotting the proposed land to the DHA without considering the thousands of poor people and fishermen whose livelihood is dependent only on the business of fishing since the pre-Partition era.
He said that if the purported land allotment were to take place, it would be disastrous for not only the petitioners but also the thousands of residents living with their families since long. He requested the court to declare the proposed land allotment to the DHA unlawful, and introduce a housing scheme for the residents of the area on the requisite low price.
A Sindh High Court division bench, headed by Justice Arshad Hussain Khan, asked the petitioners’ counsel to argue for the maintainability of the plea and file his clients’ entitlement of land documents.
