RAWALPINDI: Thousands of activists of Tehreek-e-Lubaik Pakistan (TLP) have blocked the Islamabad Expressway and separated the joining point of the twin-cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, staging Dhara (sit-in) in the mid of two major road – Islamabad Expressway and Murree Road.
Over 5000 activists of TLP carrying batons, slingshots and rods by barricaded the roads to suspend the traffic.
The protesting people have succeeded in paralysing both the cities.
Heavy contingents of police and other law enforcement agencies have surrounded the protesting people and were trying to clear the roads but couldn’t succeed till the filing of this report.
Meanwhile, Inspector General (IG) Punjab Usman Anwar visited Rawalpindi and reviewed the security arrangements taken for maintaining peace during the Ashura-e-Muharram.
