The Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) has stated that it has been ensuring cleanliness along the procession routes of Muharram as well as in the surroundings of Imambargahs and Majalis points.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the waste management board said that on the directions of its managing director (MD) Syed Imtiaz Ali Shah, its officials were enaged in cleaning, sprinkling of water and lime application on the procession routes.
The statement read that relief camps had been set up along the procession routes, offering water and drinks. From the main procession route between Nishter Park and Husainian Iranian Imambargah, and other small and large procession routes, cleaning and lime application had been ensured.
The SSWMB said relevant officers were in continuous contact with administrators of the imambargahs who had expressed satisfaction with the cleanliness arrangements. The SSWMB MD stated that all staff members would ensure garbage collection during the processions. He added that complaints received on the helpline number 1128 were being addressed.
