LAHORE: Pakistani cricket fans hoping to see Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Mohammad Rizwan in action at the upcoming Global T20 Canada league might be disappointed.
Sources close to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) suggest these star players are unlikely to receive NOCs (No Objection Certificates) to participate in the tournament. The reason for the PCB's stance seems to be a policy against granting NOCs to all-format players for franchise leagues. This was recently seen with Naseem Shah, who was denied permission to play in The Hundred. Also, the league hasn't received approval from the International Cricket Council (ICC). Only after the league is officially sanctioned will the PCB make a final decision on NOCs.
