KARACHI: Bangladesh A displayed commendable grit with the bat on day two of the four-day match against Pakistan Shaheens, reaching 203-4 despite facing a mammoth first-innings total of 467-3 declared.
Pakistan Shaheens resumed their innings from a dominant position of 375-2 and added another 92 runs before declaring. Mohammad Huraira, the overnight unbeaten batsman, continued his stellar form, adding 57 runs to his score to reach a magnificent double ton (218). Kamran Ghulam also chipped in with a well-compiled century (100 not out). Ripon Mondal (2-84) and Hasan Murad (1-130) were the only Bangladeshi bowlers to pick up wickets.
Bangladesh A got off to a shaky start, losing their openers cheaply. However, a resolute partnership between Shadman Islam (88) and Aich Mollah (70) resurrected their innings. The duo added a crucial 153 runs for the third wicket, frustrating the Pakistani bowlers.
Shadman Islam contributed 88 runs from 167 deliveries before being dismissed by Shahnawaz Dahani. Mollah added 70 runs from 113 deliveries but was run out due to a brilliant fielding effort by Sahibzada Farhan.
Shahadat Hossain (15 not out) and Hasan Murad (yet to bat) will carry on the fight on day three. For Pakistan Shaheens, Khurram Shahzad, Mohammad Ali, and Shahnawaz Dahani shared the bowling spoils with a wicket apiece.
