LAHORE : Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) has collected Rs9 billion in the fiscal year 2022-23 and Rs14.5 billion in the fiscal year 2023-24.
This was revealed by Managing Director, Wasa, Ghafran Ahmed in a briefing which was chaired by DG, LDA, Tahir Farooq here on Saturday. The meeting was called to review the performance of all sections of Wasa and its revenue generation.
Wasa Lahore has become a financially sustainable organisation by generating record revenue, MD Ghufran Ahmed briefed the meeting. Wasa budget for the current fiscal year was Rs34.4 billion and Wasa will collect Rs19 billion in revenue collection, the MD briefed, adding Wasa has collected 60pc more revenue in the water supply and sewerage sectors as compared to previous fiscal years.
Ghafran Ahmed said Wasa has collected Rs9billion in the fiscal year 2022-23 and Rs14.5 billion in the fiscal year 2023-24. MD Ghufran Ahmed further briefed that Wasa was fully prepared to deal with monsoon rains and has established field camps at more than 21 locations in the city.
LDA DG Tahir Farooq expressed satisfaction with the performance of MD Wasa Ghufran Ahmed and his team. He directed Wasa to expedite the recovery campaign. During the briefing, it was stated that Wasa will work on water supply and sewerage schemes at more than 60 key locations in the provincial capital during current fiscal year.
He added that Wasa will also work on 9 schemes for underground water tanks to store rainwater in this fiscal year. DG Tahir Farooq also reviewed Wasa's ongoing monsoon season preparations.
