LAHORE:Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique said that modern reforms are being brought to improve the health system under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
He said this while addressing an awareness seminar organised by the Institute of Blood Transfusion Services (IBTS) here on Monday. The speakers emphasised on ensuring the use of clean blood for patients. The provincial health minister congratulated IBTS Director Prof Shabnam Bashir and her team for organising an awareness seminar on a very important topic. The use of safe blood in hospitals is a fundamental right of every patient, he added.
The minister further said that thousands of people in Pakistan donate blood every year. “We are trying to improve the system of blood banks in government hospitals. The conditions of every BHU will be much better in the next two years”. The provincial health minister said that strict action is being taken against illegal blood banks in Punjab. He said that regional blood centres of Punjab are also being upgraded. IBTS Director Prof Shabnam Bashir, Prof Tariq Mian, Gen (retd) Saleem Ahmed, Prof Samina Naseem, Prof Nisar Ahmed, Prof Mona Aziz, Prof Shahida Mohsin, hematologists from different hospitals and a large number of relevant individuals participated in the seminar. Kh Salman Rafique also distributed commemorative shields among the speakers on this occasion.
