PTI leaders oppose operation on Pakhtun soil

SWABI: A Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader and two Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ministers here on Monday opposed any operation on the Pakhtun soil.

Member National Assembly Asad Qaiser, KP Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs, and Human Rights Aftab Alam Khan Afridi and Minister for Irrigation Aqibullah Khan voiced the opposition while speaking at the oath-taking ceremony of the Swabi Bar Association.

The law minister was the chief guest at the event, which was attended by lawyers from the Swabi Bar, Tehsil Topi Bar, Tehsil Razaar Bar, and Tehsil Chhota Lahor Bar, KP Bar, PTI leaders and workers, office-bearers of various political and religious parties, and officials from the district administration, judiciary, and police. Asad Qaiser emphasised on the importance of the parliament being a supreme body as per Pakistanâ€(tm)s Constitution, the independence of the judiciary, the supremacy of the rule of law, and the power of elected representatives to work for the country’s economic prosperity and its people. He criticised the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) for allegedly winning just 70 seats in the National Assembly but being awarded 180 seats, which he claimed was the reason PTI leaders had been protesting that the current government is illegitimate.

Speaking on the occasion, Aftab Alam said that after 9/11, Pakistan received $50 billion from various institutions and countries, but questioned where the money had gone. The minister also mentioned that 50 fresh judges would soon be inducted into the judiciary in KP. He announced Rs2.5 million, with Rs1 million for Swabi, and Rs0.5 million each for Tehsil Chota Lahor Bar, Tehsil Topi Bar, and Tehsil Razaar Bar.Mohammad Sagheer, the new president of the bar, and Mohammad Rashid, the former bar president, also spoke on the occasion.
