Thousands offer funeral prayers in absentia for Ismail Haniyeh

Thousands of Karachiites gathered on New MA Jinnah Road on Wednesday to offer funeral prayers in absentia for Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Sindh Amir Mohammad Hussain Mehanti led the prayers. Hania was martyred by Israel in an attack on Iranian soil. At the funeral, people, belonging to all walks of life, chanted slogans against Israel and its supporters.

Addressing the gathering, Sindh JI emir Mohammad Hussain Mehanti said the people of conscience in the world would never accept the Israeli occupation on the land of Palestine. He said resistance against occupation and tyranny was the only way forward for the Muslim Ummah. He stressed the need to educate the nation on Jihad. He highlighted the example of Afghan resistance against Russia and then the United States.

Mehanti further said that Palestinians have also been waging Jihad against tyranny and occupation. He added that Ismail Haniyeh and other Palestinian leaders among tens of thousands of people sacrificed their lives in the glorious struggle.

He further said that the US, the United Kingdom and other forces have been supporting Israel in the genocide, whereas unfortunately the Muslim world have not supported the Palestinians in the face of a genocide and crimes against humanity by Israel.

The JI leader hailed the pro-Palestinian statement by Turkey and demanded Pakistani government among other countries of the Muslim world to play their due role and go for practical help of oppressed Palestinians.

Karachi JI chief Munem Zafar in his speech hailed the role of Hamas head Ismail Haniyeh and said that he was not just a personality but a symbol of resistance against tyranny and occupation.

He further said that the people of conscience across the world, including Europe and the US, have been demanding freedom for Palestinians. He dubbed the Israeli government as one of the most coward regimes in the world for its bombardment on armless civilians and nefarious tactics against the oppressed people. On the occasion, he announced that funeral prayers in absentia for martyred Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh will be offered across Karachi on Friday, August 2.

Protest rally

The Palestine Foundation Pakistan and Imamia Students Organisation Karachi Division held a joint rally against America and the Zionist government of Israel on the martyrdom of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, adds news desk.

The rally started from Fawarah Chowk and ended at the Karachi Press Club. Hundreds of women and children including youth participated in the rally. The participants were carrying banners and placards with the words “We are all Ismail Haniyeh”, “We are all Hamas” and pictures of martyr Ismail Haniyeh.

The participants of the rally shouted slogans against America and Israel for the killing of the Hamas leader and also burnt the American and Israeli flags. Among the participants of the rally were the Patronage Committee members of Palestine Foundation Pakistan, including Secretary General Dr Sabir Abu Maryam, Jamaat-e-Islami leader Dr Meraj ul Huda Siddiqui, Muhammad Hussain Mehanti, former member of the Sindh Assembly Mahfouz Yar Khan, Majlis Wahdat Muslimeen Sindh leader Allama Baqir Zaidi, Allama Mukhtar Emami, Allama Mubasher Hasan, JUP leader Allama Qazi Ahmed Noorani, Allama Aqeel Anjum, Israr Abbasi of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Pir Azhar Ali Hamdani of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Central President ISO Hasan Arif, Sahibzada Saqib Nowshahi of the Awami Tehreek, Jamshed Hussain of the Human Rights Council, Mufti Murtaza Rahmani of the Jamiat Ahl Hadith, Pastor Daniel Siraj, and Dr Zahid Ali Zahidi.

Maulana Hayat Abbas Najafi, Maulana Malik Abbas, Maulana Hadi Velayati, Maulana Roohullah Rizvi, Maulana Yasin Majlisi and Maulana Muhammad Jawadi along with Zafar Haider spoke on this occasion.

The speakers said that attacking the Hamas leader in Tehran is a violation of all international laws. The US and the oppressive Zionist government of Israel have crossed all the red lines, they said, adding that the people of Pakistan hold America responsible for the killing of Hamas leader. The American government is responsible for the genocide of the Palestinian people, they said.

The speakers said that the terrorist attacks of the usurping Zionist government of Israel in Lebanon, Iraq, Syria and Iran show that America and Israel have been defeated in Gaza. They said that by killing the leaders of the resistance movements, the Palestinian resistance cannot end, but the resistance will become more powerful.

The speakers further said martyr Ismail Haniyeh was always seeking martyrdom and he sacrificed his life for the cause of Palestine. The mission of the martyrs will continue and the Palestinian resistance will also continue.
