‘CLICK project playing vital role in rehabilitation of towns, UCs’

KARACHI: Sindh Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) for Local Government (LG) Khalid Haider Shah has applauded the efforts of the CLICK project for the rehabilitation of Karachi's towns and union councils.

Addressing a high-level meeting at the Urban Immovable Property Tax (UIPT) Office of the Local Government Department, he said that CLICK Project is working 24/7 with the support of the World Bank to improve the infrastructure of the city. He said that the development projects proposed by the elected leadership of the towns should be beyond the routine works to significantly enhance the beauty and prestige of the city.

Secretary Excise Salim Rajput, Project Director CLICK Local Government Asif Jan Siddiqui, Director Property Tax Shabana Parvez, Municipal Commissioners, Manager UIPT Agha Murtaza were present in the meeting along with the additional chief secretary, said a press release issued on Wednesday.

Excise Secretary Salim Rajput said that after the approval of the Sindh cabinet, the function of property tax collection had been transferred to the Sindh Local Government Department, and from now on all the towns would collect the property tax on a regular basis. Asif Jan Siddiqui said that through the platform of the Click project, all the towns of Karachi, including the KMC, would be able to use the SAP system software.
