SWABI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader and Member of National Assembly Asad Qaiser on Sunday said that his party founder Imran Khan had been interned illegally and his release was a must to pull the country out of prevailing crises.
Talking to reporters after reviewing the preparations for Monday’s party rally here, he said Imran Khan was the most popular leader of the country but ironically he was languishing in jail on false charges. “We want his immediate release,” he added.
Asad Qaiser said the party workers from all over the country would turn up at the public meeting in Swabi.
“We are expecting participation of 500,000 people in the gathering,” he said, adding the PTI would later arrange a public meeting in the federal capital.
He said that the PTI leadership was trying to gather all those parties at a platform which were opposed to the present government and were worried about inflation.
Speaking on the occasion, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan said the arrangements for the Swabi public meeting had been completed, adding it would be a historic gathering.
Barrister Gohar said the PTI mandate was stolen in the last general election and their struggle to regain it would continue.
“We have planned to hold a public meeting in Islamabad and Lahore as well and we will continue these gatherings till the release of our leaders,” he pledged.
Special Assistant to KP Chief Minister on Industries Commerce and Technical Education Abdul Karim said senior party leaders had selected Swabi for the public meeting.
The work on the stage preparation was started on Saturday and the heavy trucks brought the required materials for erecting a big stage from where PTI prominent leaders were expected to deliver speeches.
