LAHORE: Dacoits remained on a looting spree in the Garden Town area by setting up a picket here on Monday.
The son of a senior journalist was deprived of his valuables, including cell phones and cash near his home in the Garden Town police limits in the wee hours of Monday. The victim Moazzam Hamza Ata ul Qayyum, the son of Editor TNS Ataul Musawwir Pirzada and former staffer of The News Lahore Saadia Salahuddin, was heading back home after visiting a friend. The robbers, who had mounted a picket, were busy in looting citizens near the graveyard of Ahmad Block Garden Town, took away two expensive cell phones and cash from Moazzam. In the meantime, they also deprived three other bikers of cash and valuables.
Police reached the scene after being informed and collected evidence. The police instead of getting separate applications from all victims, consolidated the cases of all four victims into a single case just to hide the actual crime rate in the area.
