Two people were shot dead and another was wounded in a firing incident in the Machar Colony area on Tuesday.
The incident took place near the Nala Stop in Machar Colony, Mauripur. Following the incident, police and rescue workers reached the scene and transported the casualties to the Civil Hospital, Karachi, where one of the deceased persons was identified as Laiq. The identity of the other deceased person is yet to be ascertained.
The injured person was identified as Noman, 25. Police said the deceased persons’ ages were between 40 and 52 years. Police said a parking dispute led to the shooting, in which armed assailants belonging to the Zaman group opened indiscriminate fire on members of the Najeeb and Mujeeb group near a fishing area in Machar Colony.
As a result of the firing, three individuals were critically injured, two of whom succumbed to their injuries in the hospital. Police inspected the scene and collected evidence. They said the suspects involved in the firing fled after the incident and they had been identified. A case has been registered and raids are being held to arrest the suspects.
