The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on Friday apprehended a man who allegedly got Sufi Abdul Qayyum, a prayer leader of a mosque in Gulshan-e-Jauhar, murdered in 2023 by hiring target killers .
CTD Incharge Chaudhry Safdar said the suspect had a land dispute with the deceased prayer leader. He paid Rs5 million to target killers to carry out the murder of Qayyum on February 21, 2023.
The arrested suspect, Atiq, was a former FIA inspector. The CTD incharge also noted that two other suspects involved in the crime, Ali Akbar and Tanvir, had already been arrested.
