LONDON: Tottenham’s highly-rated attacking midfielder Mikey Moore has signed his first professional deal.
Spurs announced the day after Moore’s 17th birthday that he had agreed a contract until 2027. It continues a remarkable rise for Moore, who made his Tottenham debut as a substitute against Manchester City in May to become the youngest player to represent the club in the Premier League.
There has been plenty of excitement surrounding Moore at Tottenham for years, but he first came to wider prominence with a starring role in two cup triumphs for Spurs’ youth team in 2023.Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou brought Moore into the first-team set-up last term and after two cameo appearances, he has caught the eye in pre-season with goals against Hearts and Vissel Kobe.
Speaking on Friday, Postecoglou said: “It’s fair to say, it’s incredible that he is 16 turning 17. He handles it really well and that’s part of the process when you’re a young footballer if you’re going well.
“We can’t protect him from all of it, but he’s been great. We brought him into the first-team environment the back end of last year.“He’d had some injuries earlier in the year, but every time he’s played whether for the under-18s or under-21s, he’d had an impact.“For a very young guy, he adjusted really quickly and not just the coaches but with players he earned their respect as well which is a big thing.”
