ISLAMABAD: The duo of Sarwar Khan and Shahid Hamid emerged victorious in the Independence Day Bridge event held here at Islamabad Club Thursday.
The pair won the bridge tournament with a tally of 60.91. The well-attended prestigious event was organised to celebrate Independence Day in a befitting manner. The runner-up position with a score of 60.00 went to pair of Ashraf Hussain and Nouman Baqai. The second runner-up position was grabbed by pair of Saeed Akhtar and Mohsin Chandna having score of 59.39.
Till the penultimate round, the three pairs were neck and neck. Despite the first board hiccups Sarwar and Shahid recovered in the other two boards and won the event. Federal Secretary (retired) Diljan Khan, who himself is international bridge player of high repute, distributed prizes amongst the winners and runners-up.
